At Watches & Wonders 2022 we saw Panerai flex their technology and innovation with the first ever perpetual calendar in their lineup. This year Panerai introduces two version of a new Annual Calendar Radiomir. The Panerai PAM1363 Blue Dial and PAM1432 Burgundy Dial are the stars of this show.
Continuing the focus of the Radiomir this year, these models push not only the design element of the brand but also the technological innovation with the first Annual Calendar complication in the brands lineup.
Both the PAM1362 and PAM1432 feature a seconds, minutes, hours, days, and now each moth of the year. This intricate complication is part of a brand new in-house movement that was designed specifically for the Radiomir collection. Despite the annual calendar being a very complicated feature, that didn’t deter Panerai from jumping in and creating this piece.
These complications are powered by the automatic P.9010/AC Caliber.
The date is displayed at the 3 o’clock position with the day and date through two separate dials openings. The current month is displayed on an external moving disc furthest from the center which is indicated by a fixed arrow at the 3 o’clock position to the right of the date. Ever month change a cam in the movement allows for the turning of the disk in one go, making the change instantaneous.
Adding to the technicality of the piece, the change from the 30th to the 31st is done automatically by the mechanism. This setting only needs to be adjusted 1 time a year at the end of February. To make setting this piece easier a corrector on the left side of the case allows it click by click.
Both pieces in the collection might be the same in regards to the movement, when you start discussing the dial and case, that is where they items differ. The PAM1363 features a 45mm Goldtech case which is a gold material that is developed by Panerai which includes platinum and copper giving its intense red appearance. The dial on the PAM362 is a sun brushed blue which is complimented by the hand dyed matte alligator strap. At the top of the dial you have the Radiomir Panerai text while at the bottom you will have the Calendario Annaule verbiage.
Moving to the PAM1432 which is the second reference in the Annual Calendar, not only are you getting an amazing technical piece, but this is also an experience edition.
