Panerai PAM580 3 Days 1950’s Chrono Flyback Ceramica

Pam580_Cat_Dett01_B_762850While we are only a few months out from SIHH 2015 where Panerai will debut their new lineup, they have just released a new version of their 44mm Chrono Flyback. This new Panerai PAM580 is another rendition similar to the PAM524 (Steel) & PAM525 (Rose Gold) Flybacks released earlier this year.

This time Panerai has used a 44mm 1950’s case made out of Ceramic based on Zirconium Oxide.  This synthetic ceramic created by Panerai is up to five times harder than steel but substantially lighter in weight as well as exceptionally resistant to scratches.

The watch features the P.9001 in-house movement which features a flyback chrono complication that lets you instantly zero the chronograph hands and restart them without stopping the chronograph and setting it to zero it first.  This P.9100 movement, which is the first chronograph calibre with automatic winding completely developed and made by Officine Panerai manufacture, can be seen through the clear sapphire glass on the back of the watch.Pam580_Cat_Dett03_B_762810

The dial of the PAM580 is finished in black and features a faux vintage lume. The watch like it’s predecessors features two contrasting seconds hands for the chrono function. One of the hands is in steel and the other is a beautiful nautical blue color that adds beautiful contrast. The watch is finished off with one of my personal favorites, the Assolutamente strap.
