With only a few weeks left before the Watches and Wonders show in Hong Kong, Officine Panerai has released a couple of new models that feature a brand new in-house movement. The Panerai PAM574 and PAM575 feature the historic 1940’s 42mm Radiomir case in steel and Oro Rosso (Red Gold). These models feature the iconic sandwich dial with just a sub second movement as an addition to the hours and minutes hand. The luminova on these dials is the more traditional version as compared to some of the 1940’s case which feature the faux patina version.
The new heart of these pieces is the P.1000 3 Day Reserve mechanical movement completely executed by Officine Panerai in Neuchâtel. The movement features a balance which oscillates at 4hz (28,800 vibrations per hour and thanks to the two spring barrels it’s is able to have a 3 day power reserve. The movement also features a zeroing second hand when setting the time which is a nice feature when synching your watch. The minimalist yet clean movement design is visible through the clear crystal back of the case on both watches.
This is purely speculation, but the P.1000 looks to be a replacement movement for the P.999 that was used in 3 1940’s Radiomirs (PAM439, PAM512, & PAM513). The P.1000 brings the zeroing of the sub seconds and 72HR reserve as opposed to 60HR compared to the previous movement that was being used.
